‘Time to Come Home’ is a Christian apparel brand that focuses on imagery from the book of Revelation in it’s designs. Their Designs depict 2 of the 4 Seraphim, the Lion and the Eagle. They use the potent imagery in Revelation, imagery I’ve had a fascination with since I read the book , so I thought I’d add my own take of the Ox into the mix.
I took some time to familiarise myself with the Ox’s general form. The Musk Ox on the left is incredibly powerful, and has the right stature, the way its back rises above the head, similar to Kingpins depiction in ‘Spidermen: Into the Spiderverse’.
Trying out poses to see which angle of the head looks most powerful
Using bullfighting as a reference, I studied see how the bull’s power is charged by the winding up of the massive neck and the bulging shoulders, before being released with high pressure through the horns.
Placing the eyes on the body of the bull turned out to be trickier than I thought without referencing Time to Come Home’s original material, but by applying the brand’s style, I quickly got a to a better place with the final image.
